Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Charles Haite could be acquired at Christies in London in August 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work A Dutch trading barge at her mooring, Holland; View of a Venetian canal; and A Northern European market square (illustrated) changed hands for GBP 687.50 (€ 776.41) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Other works by George Charles Haite have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2004 by the work Low tide in the harbour; and On the river towpath (illustrated) at GBP 896.25 (€ 1,268.44).
