Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Baxter could be acquired at Christies in London in April 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Travel and Natural History auction, the work The Reverend J. Waterhouse Superintending The Landing Of The Missionaries At Taranaki, New Zealand changed hands for GBP 143.40 (€ 128.83) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Admittedly, works by George Baxter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gems of The Crystal Palace, Sydenham (The Exterior) in March 2006 with an auction result of GBP 420.00 (€ 601.78).
