Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Arthur Gaskell could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations auction, the work Checking for thorns changed hands for GBP 480.00 (€ 712.91) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Arthur Gaskell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tea time, which sold at auction in October 2001 for GBP 1,292.50 (€ 2,088.87).
