Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Rosewindow - a hunter in a paddock by Geoffrey Douglas Giles was worth GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,836.30) to a buyer in November 2008. This price was achieved in the auction The Country House Sale: Pomfret House and Tetworth Hall at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Geoffrey Douglas Giles - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mons Meg winner of the Gold Vase at Ascot, 1891, which sold at auction in May 2005 for GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,829.98).
