A top price for Gaspar de Witte
The work Spring: elegant figures on a boating lake, others dancing around a Maypole; and Autumn: figures harvesting apples (2) by Gaspar de Witte was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Bonhams in London in July this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 32,000.00 (€ 37,334.30), 60% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Spring: elegant figures on a boating lake, others dancing around a Maypole; and Autumn: figures harvesting apples (2) the most expensive artwork by Gaspar de Witte that we have observed at auctions so far.
