This artwork by Gani Odutokun achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in October 2021. In the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction, the work African Womanhood sold for GBP 9,450.00 (€ 11,195.70) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gani Odutokun; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot African Womanhood VII (Alakara) sold at auction in October 2021 with the realized price of GBP 16,380.00 (€ 19,405.88).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Gani Odutokun erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit African Womanhood für GBP 9.450,00 (€ 11.195,70) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Gani Odutokun; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit African Womanhood VII (Alakara) im Oktober 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 16.380,00 (€ 19.405,88).
