Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Around Scone by Gail English was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in November 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 100.00 – 200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 59.75 (€ 34.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gail English achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Road To Katherine in November 2004 with an auction result of AUD 657.25 (€ 382.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Around Scone von Gail English im November 2004 bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 100,00 – 200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 59,75 (€ 34,80) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gail English erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Road To Katherine im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 657,25 (€ 382,83).
