Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Frederick William MacMonnies could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in April 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Bacchante With Infant Faun changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,310.23) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick William MacMonnies achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nathan Hale in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 271,500.00 (€ 241,634.03).
