Auction result misses estimated price range
In August this year a collector was able to acquire the work Bacchante and Infant Faun by Frederick William MacMonnies for USD 230.40 (€ 212.57). This price was achieved in the auction American Art Online at Bonhams in Los Angeles and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick William MacMonnies achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nathan Hale in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 271,500.00 (€ 241,634.03).
