Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In February 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work Mars and Venus, crowned by Cupid by Frederick Richard Pickersgill. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 11,352.50 (€ 16,574.29). Admittedly, works by Frederick Richard Pickersgill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Britomart unarming in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 82,345.01).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Februar 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mars and Venus, crowned by Cupid von Frederick Richard Pickersgill zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 10.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 11.352,50 (€ 16.574,29) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Richard Pickersgill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Britomart unarming im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 82.345,01).
