Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman, which included the work Surf on the Roaring Main by Frederick Judd Waugh. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,093.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Frederick Judd Waugh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Surf And Fog; Monhegan Maine in October 2016 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 45,612.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Including the Collection of Dr. Mark and Irene Kauffman durch, in der auch die Arbeit Surf on the Roaring Main von Frederick Judd Waugh zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.093,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Judd Waugh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Surf And Fog; Monhegan Maine im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 45.612,11).
