Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Fred Appleyard achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2006. In the Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures auction, the work 'Lay Not Thine Hand Upon The Lad' sold for GBP 31,200.00 (€ 45,145.88) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Fred Appleyard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Moonrise and Memories sold at auction in May 2000 with the realized price of GBP 41,125.00 (€ 65,990.46).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Fred Appleyard erzielte im Juni 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures wurde die Arbeit 'Lay Not Thine Hand Upon The Lad' für GBP 31.200,00 (€ 45.145,88) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Fred Appleyard; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Moonrise and Memories im Mai 2000 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 41.125,00 (€ 65.990,46).
