Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2010 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors, which included the work Portrait of a lady by Franz Xaver Winterhalter. The price achieved of USD 182,500.00 (€ 131,578.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Franz Xaver Winterhalter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Queen Olga of Württemberg, Grand Duchess of Russia in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 1,072,000.00 (€ 1,551,166.13).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a lady von Franz Xaver Winterhalter zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 182.500,00 (€ 131.578,95) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Franz Xaver Winterhalter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Queen Olga of Württemberg, Grand Duchess of Russia im Juni 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.072.000,00 (€ 1.551.166,13).
