A top price for Franz Xaver Winterhalter - as previously expected

The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,072,000.00 (€ 1,551,166.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Queen Olga of Württemberg, Grand Duchess of Russia is the most expensive artwork by Franz Xaver Winterhalter that we have observed at auctions so far.
