Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work Clemens Wenceslas of Saxony, Archbishop Elector of Trier (1739-1812), facing right in ermine cloak and white-bordered black bands, wearing black and white enamelled cross suspended from a red ribbon about his neck, powdered hair en queue by Franz Joseph Noortwyck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 537.75 (€ 842.12) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Franz Joseph Noortwyck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Maria Amalia Of Saxony, Duchess Of The Palatine-Zweibrücken (1757-1831) in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,136.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU durch, in der auch die Arbeit Clemens Wenceslas of Saxony, Archbishop Elector of Trier (1739-1812), facing right in ermine cloak and white-bordered black bands, wearing black and white enamelled cross suspended from a red ribbon about his neck, powdered hair en queue von Franz Joseph Noortwyck zur Versteigerung kam.
