Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian, which included the work Dover Castle; Together With A Study Of A Cave by François Louis Thomas Francia. It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,375.00 (€ 3,955.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by François Louis Thomas Francia - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chasse-marée (fishing luggers) making sail, off Calais, which sold at auction in January 2003 for GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,811.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dover Castle; Together With A Study Of A Cave von François Louis Thomas Francia zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 3.375,00 (€ 3.955,17) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von François Louis Thomas Francia mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Chasse-marée (fishing luggers) making sail, off Calais beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.811,95) versteigert wurde.
