Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, which included the work Portrait of a woman, half-length, looking to the left by François-Louis-Joseph Watteau. Here, the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 6,600.00 (€ 5,057.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François-Louis-Joseph Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Bal De Tivolifrançois Watteau, Called Watteau De Lille ; Bal In The Tivoli Garden, Paris ; Signed And Dated Lower Middle ; Oil On Non-Craddle Panel ; Bears Several Labels On The Reverse in June 2013 with an auction result of EUR 265,500.00.
