A top price for François Boucher - as previously expected
In January 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction The Courts of Europe, which included the work The Sleep Of Venus by François Boucher. The price achieved of USD 2,405,000.00 (€ 1,781,481.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Sleep Of Venus is the most expensive artwork by François Boucher that we have observed at auctions so far.
