This artwork by Francisco de Goya achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2020. In the The Sleep of Reason: Francisco Goya’s Los Caprichos auction, the work Pretty Teacher (Linda Maestra!) Plate 68 From: Los Caprichos sold for USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,659.14) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francisco de Goya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Doña María Vicenta Barruso Valdés, seated on a sofa with a lap-dog; and Portrait of her mother Doña Leonora Antonia Valdés de Barruso, seated on a chair holding a fan in January this year with an auction result of USD 16,420,000.00 (€ 15,122,490.33).

Plate 68 From: Los Caprichos für USD 11.250,00 (€ 9.659,14) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francisco de Goya erzielen.
