Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work A peasant family resting in a portico in a Continental landscape by Francis William Topham. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 528.75 (€ 886.46). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis William Topham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The flower seller, which sold at auction in July 2004 for GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,889.45).

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 528,75 (€ 886,46) einen neuen Besitzer.
