A top price for Francis Helps - as previously expected
In October 2019 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures including Selections from the Kelton Collection, which included the work The 1924 British Mount Everest Expedition: sherpas loading yaks with supplies by Francis Helps. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,059.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The 1924 British Mount Everest Expedition: sherpas loading yaks with supplies is the most expensive artwork by Francis Helps that we have observed at auctions so far.
