Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christ descending into Limbo by Francesco Solimena was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 146,588.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Solimena - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Finding Of Moses, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 825,000.00 (€ 555,892.46).

Die Arbeit Christ descending into Limbo von Francesco Solimena wurde im Juli 2021 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 125.000,00 (€ 146.588,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
