Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mathu And Zaldy by Francesco Scavullo was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 63.00 (€ 59.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Scavullo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Janis Joplin, 1969 in May 2016 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 21,204.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mathu And Zaldy von Francesco Scavullo im November 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 63,00 (€ 59,65) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Scavullo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Janis Joplin, 1969 im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 21.204,54).
