Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Trois projets de décor d'intérieur: Trois putti volant entourés de fleurs, l'un tenant un panier; Un putto fumant et un autre lisant un journal; et Un vase de fleurs avec un putto buvant une tasse de thé et un autre saluant by Francesco Gonin for EUR 264.00. This price was achieved in the auction Interieurs at Christies in Paris and was even below the estimate range of EUR 400.00 – 600.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Gonin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Italy (1820-1878); and Portrait of Maria Adelaide of Austria, Queen of Italy (1822-1855) in April 2005 with an auction result of GBP 26,400.00 (€ 39,075.84).
