Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francesco Brizio could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings, Drawings and Picture Frames auction, the work An extensive mountainous landscape with two figures in the foreground and a castle by a river changed hands for USD 1,762.50 (€ 1,889.47) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Brizio - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Carlo And Ubaldo In The Enchanted Garden Of Armida, which sold at auction in January 2013 for USD 10,000.00 (€ 7,361.60).
