Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction AT HOME-BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES AND WORKS ON PAPER, which included the work Fishing vessels on the Neopolitan coast ;and Another similar at night by Fortunato Fontana. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 881.25 (€ 1,266.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Fortunato Fontana have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A port on the Neopolitan coast in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 6,906.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion AT HOME-BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES AND WORKS ON PAPER durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fishing vessels on the Neopolitan coast ;and Another similar at night von Fortunato Fontana zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 881,25 (€ 1.266,40) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fortunato Fontana auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A port on the Neopolitan coast im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.465,00 (€ 6.906,34).
