Georg Blohm, Lübeck (by 1848. Born in Lübeck, Georg Blohm (1801-1878) moved to Saint Thomas, then a Danish island of the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean in 1825. In 1829 he moved to La Guaira, Venezuela, and founded a successful trading business, Blohm, Nölting & Co., which soon became one of the largest in Venezuela. In 1837, Blohm was made consul to Hamburg in the port town. Bellermann met Blohm for the first time on 12 July 1842 in Venezu

Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work German hacienda De San Esteban De Puerto Cabello, Venezuela by Ferdinand Bellermann was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 112,500.00 (€ 125,334.98). Admittedly, works by Ferdinand Bellermann have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Costa De La Guaira A La Caida Del Sol in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 797,000.00 (€ 613,643.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit German hacienda De San Esteban De Puerto Cabello, Venezuela von Ferdinand Bellermann im Dezember 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 112.500,00 (€ 125.334,98) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ferdinand Bellermann auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Costa De La Guaira A La Caida Del Sol im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 797.000,00 (€ 613.643,36).
