Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of a man, seen from behind, his head turned to the left and arm outstretched by Eustache Le Sueur was sold in the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 22,475.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eustache Le Sueur achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Allegory Of Poetry in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 970,000.00 (€ 895,494.83).

Die Arbeit Study of a man, seen from behind, his head turned to the left and arm outstretched von Eustache Le Sueur wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 22.475,92) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eustache Le Sueur erzielen.
