Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spanish Salida De La Iglesia (After Mass) by Eugenio Lucas Villaamil was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works auction at Sothebys in London in November 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 6,839.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Eugenio Lucas Villaamil have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A rainy outing in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 38,219.50).
