Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work La Procesión (Procession In A Church) by Eugenio Lucas Villaamil for GBP 3,125.00 (€ 3,778.36). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugenio Lucas Villaamil achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A rainy outing in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 38,219.50).
