Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French view Of Rhodes by Eugène Napoléon Flandin was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,085.89). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugène Napoléon Flandin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French The Sehzade Mosque In Laleli, Constantinople in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 53,300.00 (€ 67,799.93).
