This artwork by Eugene Berman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2020. In the Russian Pictures auction, the work Costume Design for Le Bourgeois gentilhomme sold for GBP 1,260.00 (€ 1,407.53) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugene Berman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Backview of Proserpina in Black in May this year with an auction result of USD 68,040.00 (€ 63,863.34).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Eugene Berman erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Pictures wurde die Arbeit Costume Design for Le Bourgeois gentilhomme für GBP 1.260,00 (€ 1.407,53) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 700,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eugene Berman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Backview of Proserpina in Black im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 68.040,00 (€ 63.863,34).
