Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work Portrait of a young woman, said to be the artist’s wife, Marie-Victoire Jaquotot, her back to a window by Étienne-Charles Leguay. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,750.00 (€ 3,822.01), 19% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Étienne-Charles Leguay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Lady And Gentleman, Circa 1801 in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 30,637.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young woman, said to be the artist’s wife, Marie-Victoire Jaquotot, her back to a window von Étienne-Charles Leguay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.750,00 (€ 3.822,01) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Étienne-Charles Leguay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady And Gentleman, Circa 1801 im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 30.637,44).
