A top price for Ernest Reed - as previously expected
In January 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Figure of a Woman with Grapes, 1981 by Ernest Reed. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,875.00 (€ 1,545.12) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Figure of a Woman with Grapes, 1981 is the most expensive artwork by Ernest Reed that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Januar 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figure of a Woman with Grapes, 1981 von Ernest Reed zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.875,00 (€ 1.545,12) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Figure of a Woman with Grapes, 1981 das teuerste Kunstwerk von Ernest Reed, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
