In October 2000 Christies in New York held the auction American Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Sunset on the Lake by Ernest Parton. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,700.00 (€ 5,538.53), 57% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ernest Parton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work When Lingering Daylight Welcomes Night in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 27,794.20).

Im Oktober 2000 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset on the Lake von Ernest Parton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.700,00 (€ 5.538,53) und damit 57% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ernest Parton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit When Lingering Daylight Welcomes Night im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.500,00 (€ 27.794,20).
