Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work A Reach On The Upper Thames by Ernest Parton for USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,307.98). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Parton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work When Lingering Daylight Welcomes Night in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 27,794.20).
