In September 2000 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work The love token by Ernest Gustave Girardot. The price achieved of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,898.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Other works by Ernest Gustave Girardot have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2002 the work A lady with a parrot was auctioned for GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,683.26).
