In December 2003 Christies in New York held the auction PLAYBOY AT 50, which included the work Untitled (Royalty at dinner) by Erich Sokol. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,365.00 (€ 6,640.47), 39% above the upper estimate. Other works by Erich Sokol have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 9,560.00 (€ 7,589.11) in December 2003 for the work Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.
