This artwork by Eric Wilson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2009. In the Important Australian Art auction, the work Australian Street In Siena sold for AUD 36,000.00 (€ 21,951.98) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eric Wilson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Paris, 1940s, which sold at auction in April 2021 for AUD 61,500.00 (€ 51,122.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Eric Wilson erzielte im November 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art wurde die Arbeit Australian Street In Siena für AUD 36.000,00 (€ 21.951,98) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 18.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Eric Wilson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Paris, 1940s beobachtet, die im April 2021 für AUD 61.500,00 (€ 51.122,19) versteigert wurde.
