A top price for Emperor Tongzhi - as previously expected
In May 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Calligraphic Couplet in Standard Script by Emperor Tongzhi. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 250,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 300,000.00 (€ 32,776.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Calligraphic Couplet in Standard Script is the most expensive artwork by Emperor Tongzhi that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Mai 2018 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphic Couplet in Standard Script von Emperor Tongzhi zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 250.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 300.000,00 (€ 32.776,35) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Calligraphic Couplet in Standard Script das teuerste Kunstwerk von Emperor Tongzhi, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
