Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Gorille enlevant une Femme (Gorilla carrying off a Woman) by Emmanuel Frémiet was worth EUR 52,920.00 to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction Collection Jacques Ginepro, Une Vie de Sculptures at Sothebys in Paris and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 15,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Emmanuel Frémiet; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Le Pélican Gastronome sold at auction in February 2016 with the realized price of EUR 76,200.00.
