Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings Part II, which included the work Portrait of the poet André Chénier (1762-1794), three-quarter length, seated at a table covered in a green cloth with papers and an inkwell, his hand tucked into his jacket by Horace Vernet. It changed hands for a price of USD 18,900.00 (€ 15,574.78) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Horace Vernet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Death Of Prince Poniatowski On October 19Th, 1813 in June 2017 with an auction result of EUR 511,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of the poet André Chénier (1762-1794), three-quarter length, seated at a table covered in a green cloth with papers and an inkwell, his hand tucked into his jacket von Horace Vernet zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 18.900,00 (€ 15.574,78) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Horace Vernet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Death Of Prince Poniatowski On October 19Th, 1813 im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 511.500,00.
