An eye-witness of the attack on Laing's Neck thus describes the incident depicted: 'Poor Elwes fell among the 58th. He shouted to another Eton boy (adjutant of the 58th, whose horse had been shot) "Come along, Monck! Floreat Etona! We must be in the front rank!" and he was shot immediately'

We by Elizabeth Butler was sold in the Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2007. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 50,400.00 (€ 74,791.07). Admittedly, works by Elizabeth Butler have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dawn Of Waterloo in October 2021 with an auction result of GBP 325,250.00 (€ 385,333.41).

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 50.400,00 (€ 74.791,07) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elizabeth Butler auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dawn Of Waterloo im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 325.250,00 (€ 385.333,41).
