Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Pageant Of London by Elijah Albert Cox was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 571.75). Admittedly, works by Elijah Albert Cox have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Crucifixion in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,125.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Pageant Of London von Elijah Albert Cox im Mai 2011 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 500,00 (€ 571,75) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elijah Albert Cox auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Crucifixion im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.868,00 (€ 4.125,60).
