Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With A Swan, Asparagus, Game And Vegetables by Elias Vonck was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,690.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elias Vonck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A still life of a swan suspended from a hook, a hare, a grey partridge, a pheasant on a barrel and a rabbit and song birds on a stone ledge, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 23,899.52).
