This artwork by Elias van den Broeck achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2002. In the OLD MASTER PICTURES auction, the work A forest floor still life with butterflies and snails, a landscape beyond; and A forest floor still life with butterflies and lizards sold for EUR 83,650.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elias van den Broeck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Blumenstilleben., which sold at auction in April 2011 for CHF 228,000.00 (€ 177,511.10).
