Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction 19th CenturyEuropean Art, which included the work A view of Dordrecht harbour with the Grote Kerk in the background by Elias Pieter van Bommel. The price achieved of EUR 18,250.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elias Pieter van Bommel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dutch a Busy Harbour With Merchants Unloading Their Goods, which sold at auction in December 2010 for EUR 63,150.00.
