This artwork by Egbert van Heemskerck the Younger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2018. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work An Amorous Couple In An Inn sold for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,408.98) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Egbert van Heemskerck the Younger have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Temptation of Saint Anthony in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,607.48).
