Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work Kortenhoefsche Plassen: water-lilies near Kortenhoef by Egbert Schaap for EUR 1,250.00. This price was achieved in the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Egbert Schaap - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Atelier op Villa Nova - the interior of the artist's studio, which sold at auction in March 2001 for NLG 8,812.50 (€ 4,081.57).
