The work The Rivals by Edwin Hughes was sold in the Victorian and Traditonalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2007. The price achieved of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 16,628.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Rivals is the most expensive artwork by Edwin Hughes that we have observed at auctions so far.
